The Bosch Rexroth Indramat RAC 3.5-100-460-D00-W1-220 is an AC main spindle drive controller in the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. It supplies regulated three-phase power to high-speed spindle motors and monitors speed commands from the numerical control during machine operation. This allows the spindle to respond to commanded acceleration, torque, and direction changes with the drive and control functions housed in one cabinet-mounted unit. Because the power stage and spindle control are combined in the same device, the drive fits compact machine layouts without separate spindle modules. It is intended for machine tool applications where stable spindle regulation is needed for cutting, drilling, milling, and similar high-speed processes.

Cooling is provided by a built-in blower, which expels heat directly from the housing instead of relying only on cabinet airflow. Control wiring terminates on the X4 25-pole plug, where enable signals, status bits, and protective interlocks are grouped in one connection. The control electronics draw auxiliary power from AC 230 V at 50/60 Hz. For the power section, the unit accepts either 3 x AC 400 V at 50 Hz ±15% or 3 x AC 460 V, and under those conditions it can deliver a continuous output current of 100 A to the spindle motor.

The controller is supplied without an additional bleeder, so regenerative energy is handled by the integrated resistor network. It is also supplied without an additional encoder input, which keeps feedback centered on the primary spindle sensor. Speed commands are transmitted over a digital 16-bit parallel interface, allowing fine command resolution for spindle control and stable speed references during varying process demands. That layout keeps the command path straightforward for systems that exchange spindle data through a parallel interface. The unit is Series 3 and Version 5 within the RAC platform.
