The RAC 2.3-250-380-API-W1 is a Bosch Rexroth main spindle drive controller. It drives motors such as main spindle motors and frameless spindle motors. These drives are often used in CNC machines because of their high stiffness and broad speed range. The RAC 2.3-250-380-API-W1 also comes with an internal position control loop. The loop is closed by motor feedback or optional spindle feedback. This loop allows the position of the spindle to be set independently by using a work signal. It can resolve up to 1/4 millionth of a revolution.
It runs on a 3-phase electricity supply. It comes with a mains contactor and emergency stop switch. During braking, the power generated is reintroduced to the electric power supply. This occurs even while emergency stop. The drive controller can even stop the main spindle even in the case of a power cut by using direct current braking. This drive controller can be installed to cool with inside air or with the help of a control cabinet. The modifications to the structure can be done without using any accessories. It contains a heat sink which both cools down the electronics and takes away heat from the fan.
The current rating for this controller is 400A. This controller has an analogue speed set point which runs on a voltage of +/- 10 Volts. It has an additional encoder input for feedback from a second motor or spindle feedback. It also comes with an additional incremental encoder output. For cooling, it uses a built-in fan.
