Product Description:
The RAC 2.3-200-460-L00-Z1 is an AC main spindle drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. Designed to regulate the torque and speed of high-performance spindle motors, the unit combines power conversion and motion control for machining centers, milling equipment, and similar automation systems where spindle stability affects surface finish and process repeatability. It converts plant power into regulated three-phase output and responds to digital command data, helping maintain stable tool speed during acceleration, load changes, and continuous cutting duty.
At the power stage, the controller accepts a nominal supply of 3 × AC 400 V, 50 Hz, ±15% or 3 × AC 460 V, so it can connect to both European and North American plant mains without a transformer. Its output section is sized for a continuous load of 200 A, allowing direct connection to large spindle windings without derating. Thermal energy is removed by an integrated internal blower, which moves cabinet air across the heat sink and helps prevent current limiting at elevated ambient temperatures. Motion commands reach the drive through the SERCOS interface, and diagnostic fibers connect at the dedicated X4 optical waveguide terminal for noise-immune communication in electrically harsh environments. The designation 2 in the type code indicates series 2.
Regenerative peaks from rapid deceleration are handled by an integrated additional bleeder resistor network, letting the spindle slow down without tripping the DC-bus overvoltage monitor. Feedback flexibility is unchanged because the unit is supplied without an additional encoder input, while the primary spindle feedback channel remains available through the motor connector. As an AC Main Spindle Drive Controller, it is intended for high-speed rotational applications rather than axis interpolation. The unit is Version 3, which keeps parameter behavior consistent across identical machines.
