Product Description:
The RAC 2.3-200-460-D0I-W1 spindle drive controller is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. It is an AC main spindle drive controller that regulates torque and rotational speed for high-performance machine tool spindles and similar loads in automated production cells. By converting the three-phase mains supply into a regulated output, the controller supports rapid acceleration, controlled deceleration, and stable operation of induction or synchronous spindle motors used in precision cutting, drilling, and grinding processes. This control behavior helps the spindle maintain steady speed when machining loads change during a cycle.
The unit draws its supply from 3 x AC 400 V lines at 50 Hz, allowing direct connection to standard European factory networks. Within this operating range, it can deliver a continuous motor armature current of 200 A, so large-frame spindles can reach full torque without external boosters. Heat generated by the power stage is removed by an internal blower, which circulates cabinet air across the finned heat sink and keeps semiconductor temperatures within the intended operating range. Position or speed references enter through a 16-bit parallel digital command bus, giving the controller fine resolution for closed-loop spindle control.
For installations that run on North American mains, the power section also accepts 3 x AC 460 V, and a tolerance window of ±15% accommodates moderate network variation without loss of regulation. Motor feedback forwarding is provided through an incremental encoder output, allowing downstream numerical controls to monitor spindle position in real time. All control and diagnostic signals are brought to connector X4 with 25 poles, which simplifies wiring during installation and routine access. The design is supplied without additional bleeder hardware or an auxiliary encoder input, so the cabinet layout stays compact while braking and extra feedback functions remain external to the controller.
