Internal Product Review
The RAC 2.3-200-460-APS-W1 is an AC main spindle drive controller rated for 200 A, making it well suited for demanding spindle applications. Internal blower cooling and an analog ±10 V speed command give the controller stable response and make the unit a strong choice for high-current spindle control.

Product Description:
The RAC 2.3-200-460-APS-W1 spindle drive controller is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. As an AC main spindle drive controller, it interfaces with CNC or PLC equipment to regulate torque and rotational speed on machine-tool spindles, enabling repeatable cutting, milling, or grinding cycles in automated production cells. Built-in power electronics, encoder processing, and cooling hardware make the unit a self-contained axis module for demanding duty cycles. Its role is to provide stable spindle control where accurate speed regulation and responsive torque delivery are required during machining.
This model operates from a three-phase supply of 3 × AC 400 V, 50 Hz, ±15% or 3 × AC 460 V and can deliver a continuous line current of 200 A to the spindle motor. Heat generated by the switching devices is removed by a built-in blower, so external cooling ducts are not required. The speed reference is an analog (±10 V) signal, which allows direct connection to conventional motion controllers used in machine tools and similar automation systems. For diagnostics and parameter access, an RS 232-C serial interface is available, allowing a direct data link without opening the enclosure.
An additional encoder input for spindle feedback accepts position data from the motor’s own high-resolution INDRAMAT encoder, supporting closed-loop vector control across the speed range. Field wiring to the logic layer is grouped on connector X4 with 9 poles, which combines control-voltage, reference, and monitor lines in a single plug. The unit is supplied without an additional bleeder, so regenerative energy is handled by the existing internal circuitry whenever operating conditions allow. The controller is Version 3 and Series 2, which places it within a later revision of this spindle-drive platform.
