Product Description:
The RAC 2.3-200-380-D00-W1 is an AC main spindle drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. It conditions incoming three-phase power and issues torque commands so that machine-tool spindles follow the velocity profile generated by the numerical control. By linking the plant mains to the motor windings, the unit supports the fast speed changes and steady operation needed in drilling, milling, and grinding equipment. In machine tools, this lets the spindle react quickly to changing cutting conditions while remaining coordinated with feed axes and programmed motion sequences.
The controller connects to a three-phase supply of 3 x AC 400 V, 50-60 Hz, allowing direct connection to common factory power systems. From this input it can supply up to 200 A to the spindle motor, which supports rapid acceleration and stable cutting speed under changing load. Speed commands are received through a 16-bit parallel digital interface, and control wiring is routed through terminal X4 with 25 poles for organized signal handling. The high-resolution command format helps the control system apply fine speed changes during ramping and setpoint updates. Heat from the power section is removed by an internal blower, so the unit does not require separate external ducting.
The drive is built in series 2 and version 3. It is supplied without an additional bleeder, so regenerative energy is handled by the standard resistor network or returned to the mains as permitted by the system. It is also supplied without an additional encoder input, which means it uses the existing spindle feedback channel instead of a secondary feedback path. The omission of these optional features does not change the main power stage or the primary feedback path used for spindle regulation.
