Product Description:
The RAC 2.3-150-380-L00-W1 is an AC main spindle drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. It governs torque and speed on machining center spindles by translating digital motion commands into controlled three-phase output. The unit mounts in modular drive cabinets and shares a common DC bus with auxiliary axis drives, allowing the spindle to accelerate and decelerate in concert with feed axes during complex industrial automation cycles. This arrangement supports coordinated spindle response during tool changes, contouring moves, and rapid speed transitions in automated machine tools. Because the spindle and feed axes share bus energy, the controller fits systems where motion timing must remain tightly synchronized.
Rated input power is accepted at 3 × AC 400 V, 50–60 Hz, so it connects directly to standard plant mains. From this supply, it can furnish a continuous output of 150 A, giving the spindle high starting torque and short ramp times. Internal heat is removed by a built-in fan, so no external ducting is required. Velocity setpoints enter through the SERCOS interface, and diagnostic plus parameter data are routed over connector X4 optical waveguides for noise-immune communication and galvanic isolation. Deterministic communication helps maintain repeatable command timing during synchronized interpolation and spindle orientation tasks.
The controller is Series 2. The unit is delivered without an additional bleeder, so excess regenerative energy must be absorbed by the shared DC link or an external resistor assembly during rapid spindle deceleration. It is also supplied without an additional encoder input, which simplifies installation when only a single feedback device is required for speed control. The controller is Version 3. This configuration suits applications that rely on the main DC link for braking energy and use one motor feedback channel.
