Bosch Rexroth Indramat builds the RAC 2.2-250-460-A0I-W1 in the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. As an AC main spindle drive controller, it supplies regulated three-phase power to high-speed machine-tool spindles so the drive can accelerate, brake, and hold setpoints demanded by a CNC or PLC. The controller is part of hardware generation 2 within the RAC family and, when paired with matching power sections, converts line voltage into adjustable spindle voltage and frequency for industrial automation. That control supports stable spindle speed during cutting, drilling, and other precision machining tasks.

The unit accepts a rated line of 3 × 400 V, 50 Hz ±15%, or 3 × AC 460 V, allowing use on both European and North American mains. Under either supply, the power section can deliver a continuous output of 250 A, which suits medium-to-large spindle motors that draw substantial startup current. Spindle velocity is commanded through an analog ±10 V interface, enabling direct connection to motion controllers that generate speed setpoints by voltage. Heat is removed by an internal blower, which maintains airflow across the power semiconductors. For position feedback pass-through, an incremental encoder output is provided so the spindle's pulse signals can be sent to supervisory devices without additional modules.

No dynamic energy absorber is installed, so the drive is supplied without an additional bleeder, and braking energy must be handled by the motor or an external resistor where required. The controller is also delivered without an additional encoder input, so diagnostics do not rely on a secondary position sensor. Field wiring lands on the X4 connector with 9 poles, which groups low-level signals for speed commands and encoder retransmission. The hardware belongs to Series 2 and uses version 2 for this product generation.
