Product Description:
The RAC 2.2-200-460-D0S-W1 is an AC main spindle drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. It regulates the speed and torque of high-power machine-tool spindles by converting three-phase line power into controlled output for an induction or synchronous motor. The unit is part of series 2 and supports automated machining tasks that require precise digital speed commands and integrated diagnostic links. It is intended for digitally controlled spindle systems where accurate speed regulation and consistent torque response are required across a wide operating range.
This controller draws a maximum of 200 A from the DC bus and tolerates line supplies of 3 × AC 400 V, 50 Hz ±15% or 3 × AC 460 V, allowing operation on common European or North American mains. Rotor velocity is set through a digital 16-bit parallel command word, so motion profiles can be updated directly from a CNC or PLC without analog drift. This direct digital command path helps preserve speed reference accuracy during demanding spindle operation. Thermal energy is expelled by an internal blower, and the built-in fan moves cabinet air across the heat sinks without external ducting. Parameter transfer and status polling use a serial interface RS-232-C, enabling point-to-point communication with a host system or HMI. All control, encoder feedback, and power conductors terminate on a single terminal block labeled X4 25-pole, which helps keep panel wiring organized.
The drive is shipped without an additional bleeder, so dynamic braking energy must be absorbed by the motor or by separate braking hardware. During deceleration, regenerated energy must therefore be handled outside the drive when the application returns more energy than the motor can absorb. The electronics are also supplied without an additional encoder input, so only the standard spindle encoder channel is available. The unit is version 2, which identifies the product generation used for this controller and matches the parameter structure assigned to this release.
