Indramat is a manufacturer of state-of-the art spindle drives, spindle drive controllers, and spindle motors. Among its long list of impressive products is the RAC 2 main spindle drive controller.
The RAC 2.2-150-460-A00-Z1 is an intelligent digital controller with a continuously-powered main spindle drive. It directly controls the INDRAMAT 2AD asynchronous main spindle motors. The RAC 2.2-150-460-A00-Z1 can also be used to control frameless spindle motors output of 30 to 52 kw. In terms of its spindle positioning, the drive controller can position the spindle independently. This independent positioning responds to a signal. Another key feature of the RAC 2.2-150-460-A00-Z1 is its accuracy in controlling low speeds required by the position control loop. Cooling mechanisms such as the heatsink fan are pre-built within the device controller.
The RAC 2.2-150-460-A00-Z1 is built with feedback interfaces, CNC control interfaces, and additional interfaces. It can also accommodate an additional modular main spindle controller through the link circuit connection and the control voltage bus. It also offers other different interface options such as the speed set-point interfaces, a serial interface, and a digital position set-points input. The device controller can be operated in humid workshops provided that the average relative humidity of the most humid month of the area does not exceed 70%. Solid objects cannot damage the controller; however, water can pose a threat against it. RAC 2.2-150-460-A00-Z1 has a protection class of IP 10 and is designed in accordance with the standards set by DIN VDE 0160. The protection classes of the inside of the control cabinet and the cooling fan are IP 54 and IP 24 respectively. This guarantees that Indramat’s device controller and its components have met comprehensive protection standards.
