Product Description:
The RAC 2.2-150-380-A0I-W1 is an AC main spindle drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. It serves as the interface between a machine tool CNC speed reference and the mechanical spindle, converting control signals into regulated three-phase power. The unit helps maintain stable spindle speed and torque so cutting, milling, and grinding processes stay accurate during operation. In machine tools, this allows the spindle to respond to changing load conditions while following commanded speed changes from the control system.
The controller accepts a three-phase supply of 3 x AC 400 V, 50-60 Hz, matching common plant distribution systems. Under normal operating conditions, it can deliver a continuous motor current of 150 A, allowing direct control of large spindle motors that require high startup torque. Thermal energy is removed by an integrated built-in fan, which keeps the heat sinks within safe limits without external ducting. The speed reference is an analog (+/- 10 V) signal, and field wiring for command and feedback connections is made on the X4 9-pole terminal strip. This arrangement supports installation in standard machine electrical cabinets and gives the controller a straightforward control interface.
For feedback distribution to downstream controllers, the unit provides an incremental encoder output, which passes spindle position data to external motion hardware. It is supplied without an additional bleeder, so regenerative energy from aggressive deceleration must be handled elsewhere in the system. The controller also comes without an additional encoder input, so the standard feedback channel is used for commutation and monitoring. The drive is Series 2 and Version 2. This version marking helps distinguish the build used for this controller type.
