Product Description:
The RAC 2.3-250-460-L00-Z1 is an AC main spindle drive controller manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. As a spindle drive it regulates torque and speed on the primary spindle of CNC machine tools and other automated machining centers, linking the power section to digital motion commands from the control system. Its control logic, power stage, and built-in diagnostics are integrated to simplify cabinet layout while maintaining the rapid speed transitions required in industrial cutting, grinding, or drilling operations.
This controller accepts a line supply of 3 × AC 400 V, 50 Hz, +⁄-15 % or 3 × AC 460 V and converts it to regulated three-phase output for the spindle motor. The power stage is rated for a continuous output of 250 A, so it can deliver high dynamic torque during rapid accelerations. Heat generated by the IGBT bridge is removed through an integrated Internal Blower / Built-in fan, eliminating the need for external coolant circuits. A factory-installed with additional bleeder resistor dissipates regenerated energy that returns from the decelerating spindle, preventing DC-link overvoltage and protecting upstream components.
The hardware belongs to series 2 and carries electronics version 3, a combination that aligns its firmware, power board, and diagnostic functions with other drives in the same product family. Velocity and torque references reach the unit through the SERCOS interface, allowing deterministic fiber-optic communication with the machine controller. Feedback to the CNC passes via terminal X4, optical waveguides, keeping control signals immune to electrical noise inside the cabinet. Position verification from the motor is performed through the standard encoder input; the unit is supplied without additional encoder input, so only the primary feedback channel is available for motion supervision.
