Internal Product Review
The PST6250.114-L is a Bosch Rexroth Indramat thyristor power unit built around a 2-phase thyristor power stage and a 200 A mains nominal current. Air-cooled operation and MOV overvoltage protection give the unit dependable thermal behavior and solid line-side protection in cabinet installations. A strong performer for industrial power control, especially where 24 V discrete I/O is preferred.

Product Description:
The PST6250.114-L is a thyristor power unit produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PST Thyristor Power Units series. It serves as the controlled power stage in resistance welding equipment and other automation tasks that require short, high-current pulses. By switching two anti-parallel thyristors per phase, the unit regulates the primary side of a welding transformer so that secondary current follows the profile commanded by a supervisory controller.
The power section is built around a two-phase thyristor bridge that carries a continuous mains current of 200 A; this figure represents the maximum RMS current the silicon devices can withstand without thermal overload. Control electronics are supplied from a separate 24 V DC rail, and all command signals use a 24 V discrete I/O interface for direct connection to standard PLC hardware. When operated at a 20% duty cycle, the unit can deliver 224 kVA to the welding transformer, while a 50% duty cycle reduces permissible power to 141 kVA to keep junction temperatures within safe limits. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, which provides finger-safe protection when the device is mounted inside a panel. Auxiliary circuitry is supported by a 2 A low-current output, and large 95 mm² terminals limit conductor heating. An integrated MOV network provides overvoltage suppression on the mains bus.
Cooling relies on forced air, and total thyristor plus inductor losses may reach 360 W; an additional cabinet base loss of 69 W must be removed by the panel ventilation system. Ambient air at the intake must not exceed 45 °C, and at least 100 mm of free space around the vents is required to maintain airflow. The assembly is approved for operation up to 2000 m above sea level under Climate Class 3K3, allowing full output in most plant environments without derating.
