The PST610E.101-L is a two-phase thyristor power unit built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and assigned to the PST Thyristor Power Units series. In an automation cell, it modulates line voltage to resistive or inductive loads, allowing proportional power control that conventional contactors cannot achieve. The internal design combines phase-angle firing with feedback logic so that furnace zones, drying tunnels, or similar equipment receive consistent thermal energy under varying line conditions. That operating method helps maintain smoother process heating than simple on/off switching, especially when load response changes during startup or batch transitions.
The power stage carries a nominal current of 130 Arms and is supported by a transformer rated at 95 kVA, giving the unit enough headroom for high-energy heat sections. Continuous operation is limited to a 50% duty cycle to keep silicon junction temperatures within safe limits, and excess heat is removed by air cooling, which simplifies enclosure layout. For short test pulses or alarm horns, the output terminals can source up to 1 A of discrete current, coordinated by 16 digital inputs and 12 digital outputs on an opto-isolated backplane.
