The PST610-EL is a thyristor power unit manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PST Thyristor Power Units series. It is intended to drive resistive heating elements or similar high-current loads from a DC control level, allowing precise power modulation in automated machinery. By switching line phases with controlled silicon devices, the module supplies controlled energy while isolating the low-voltage logic section from the line circuit.

Under forced ventilation, the device can conduct a nominal current of 130 A eff; without a fan hood, it is limited to 95 A eff, so airflow planning directly influences continuous load capacity. Short duty cycles of up to ten percent enable a primary output pulse of 300 A, which is useful for rapid heat-up or surge requirements. The internal electronics are powered from a 24 V DC logic supply; this rail must accommodate a steady 1.0 A draw and a 1.5 A inrush lasting 10 ms. Control accuracy is maintained when the line supply has ripple of no more than ±5% max, which helps maintain predictable trigger angles. The air-cooled design, climate class 3K3 rating, and 8 kg mass allow cabinet installation without additional liquid cooling. Field terminals can source up to 3 A for external I/O, simplifying sensor distribution.

Copper conductors up to 50 mm² can be landed on the power lugs, supporting low-resistance connections at the rated currents. Safe ambient operation is permitted up to 45 °C, provided the installation altitude does not exceed 2000 m; beyond this height, derating is required because of reduced air density. The housing carries an ingress rating of IP20, so it should be mounted inside a cabinet that meets IP54 to block dust and splashed fluids. This operating range suits enclosed industrial control cabinets with adequate airflow and enclosure protection.
