Product Description:
The PSI64C0.638-W1 medium-frequency inverter is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It conditions three-phase utility power so that induction heaters, weld generators, or similar loads receive a precisely metered high-frequency supply, making it useful in automated manufacturing cells where thermal energy must be delivered in short, repeatable cycles. By combining its converter stage with internal control logic, the unit eliminates the need for separate rectifier and chopper assemblies, reducing cabinet complexity for system builders.
The inverter accepts an input range of 400–480 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz and removes switching heat through a water-cooled plate connected to the plant’s process water circuit. Within the enclosure, the power stack produces up to 420 W of heat loss that the liquid loop carries away, while the housing maintains an IP20 ingress protection rating for basic protection against accidental contact. Timing and diagnostic data travel across a DeviceNet interface used for timer communication, allowing a PLC to coordinate start and quench commands without additional field wiring.
An integrated auxiliary supply delivers 24 VDC at up to 2 A for sensors, contactors, or fieldbus electronics, removing the need for a separate control transformer. The converter remains functional at ambient temperatures from +10 to +55 °C, conforms to climatic class 3K3 under EN 60721-3-3 for standard industrial environments, and can be stored between -25 °C and +70 °C without damage to capacitors or seals. Its total mass is approximately 25 kg, allowing the unit to be mounted on panel backplates without structural reinforcement, while the water connections are arranged to keep service loops clear of live terminals.
