The PSI63C0.660-L2 is a medium-frequency inverter produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the PSI Frequency Inverters series. In automated production cells, it converts high-voltage mains power into controlled medium-frequency power for induction heaters, hardening coils, or similar loads that require rapid energy transfer. The unit combines power electronics with an air-cooled heat sink to provide a compact source of programmable current for process sequences managed through DeviceNet timers or PLC interfaces.
The inverter can be connected directly to industrial power systems rated at 480–690 VAC, allowing use with European and North American high-voltage systems. Line compatibility is maintained at 50/60 Hz, so no external frequency adaptation is required. During dynamic peaks, the power stage delivers up to 800 A, while continuous output is limited to 110 A to keep semiconductor junction temperatures within safe limits. The enclosure has an IP20 protection rating, which helps prevent contact with live parts when the unit is mounted inside a control cabinet. Forced-air cooling removes heat from the semiconductors and busbars, and at least 100 mm of vertical clearance is required to maintain unrestricted airflow. MOV devices provide surge suppression, and current is measured with a resolution of 10 A. An integrated 24 VDC, 2 A supply provides power for external relays or sensors.
Operation is permitted from +10 to +55 °C, supporting stable performance in typical plant environments, while a storage range of -25 to +70 °C accommodates unconditioned warehouses. The unit weighs 21 kg and can be wall-mounted, while its copper bus links accept 35 mm² conductors and terminals up to 50 mm². Rated cooling losses of 360 W can be used when calculating panel ventilation requirements. A 1 kHz internal clock controls pulse patterns, while nine impulse slots and 256 program memories accommodate complex heating cycles. A 36 kA secondary current limit protects downstream work coils, and climatic category 3K3 under EN 60721-3-3 indicates suitability for dust-free indoor locations.
