The PSI63C0.638-L2 is a medium-frequency inverter manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. The unit converts high-voltage three-phase mains power into controlled medium-frequency power for induction-heating generators, welding converters, or other process loads that require stable amplitude and frequency. In an automation line, it sits between the plant supply and the process equipment, regulating energy flow so machine controllers can follow precise thermal or metallurgical profiles.

The inverter accepts a three-phase input of 480–690 VAC and draws a nominal mains current of 110 A at rated load. Its input stage tolerates a maximum primary current of 800 A, while the secondary converter section can deliver up to 36 kA for medium-frequency transformers. The housing has an IP20 protection rating, so it must be mounted inside a suitable cabinet. Air cooling provides thermal management, and the terminal blocks accept copper conductors from 35 mm² through the listed 50 mm² power-feed cross section. An integrated 2 A supply powers the TriCore-based control electronics. The DeviceNet fieldbus and an internal timer node handle synchronized commands from the master controller.

The inverter can operate at ambient temperatures up to 45 °C and at altitudes up to 2000 m without output derating. The control interface provides 8 inputs and 8 outputs for fast interlocks, reducing network latency when immediate responses are required. A dedicated auxiliary rail supplies 24 VDC to external contactors, sensors, or indicator lamps, eliminating the need for a separate power supply for those devices. The cooling fans and embedded supply draw power from the common DC bus. This arrangement keeps the associated cabinet wiring direct and limits the number of separate power connections needed around the inverter.
