The PSI63C0.201-L2 medium-frequency inverter is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. Designed as a 3-phase inverter with an integrated weld timer, it supplies regulated current to resistance-welding transformers and other heavy-duty loads in automated production cells, commonly used in automotive body lines. By modulating medium-frequency power, the unit delivers precise heat input and cycle timing, supporting repeatable weld quality while reducing transformer size and electrode wear.
The inverter connects to factory power grids from 480–690 VAC and draws a mains nominal current of 110 A during standard operation. Its power stage can deliver up to 800 A on the primary side, translating to 36 kA at the secondary terminals when paired with the PSG 3100 welding transformer, a capability that handles large electrode forces without saturation. Control electronics are supplied by 24 VDC, isolating logic from high-energy circuits. Air cooling carries away up to 420 W of inverter dissipation, while cabinet heat is limited to 200 W at maximum load and 100 W when the drive is idle. A minimum conductor cross-section of 35 mm² is required for the mains connection to limit temperature rise in the supply wiring.
The housing is rated IP20 for indoor, finger-safe mounting inside switchgear assemblies. Application data are stored in battery-buffered RAM, and the program table holds 256 individual weld schedules that can be selected over the PROFIBUS DP fieldbus. The internal timer is synchronized through the same PROFIBUS channel to coordinate squeeze, weld, and hold intervals. Motion cells that change tooling frequently can address up to 32 electrode pairs without reconfiguration. A TriCore processor executes current regulation and timer functions, keeping cycle times consistent even under fluctuating line voltages.
