The PSI63C0.181-W2 medium-frequency inverter is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It converts high-voltage three-phase supply power into a regulated medium-frequency output that supports induction heating, welding, and other automated processes requiring concentrated energy and fast current control. The unit is intended for cabinet installation where thermal loads must be transferred through a liquid cooling circuit rather than removed by forced air.
Input power from 480–690 VAC mains at 50 or 60 Hz is first rectified and then switched at a carrier frequency of 1 kHz; this frequency controls the medium-frequency waveform supplied to the load. The nominal system current is 110 A, while the inverter can supply bursts of up to 800 A for transient demands. Logic and timing functions operate from a 24 V DC control supply, and the onboard converter provides 2 A for sensors and relays. Thermal dissipation inside the enclosure is limited to 140 W, so most of the generated heat must be extracted by the external coolant. A time resolution of 1 ms coordinates the output with process sequencers, MOV devices absorb overvoltage events, and 35 mm² terminals accept the mains conductors.
A liquid flow rate of 4 L/min can remove up to 500 W of heat from the power stage, while separate electronics losses remain below 420 W. The coolant temperature may reach 30 °C, and the inlet ports use M16 × 1.5 connections. The enclosure has an IP20 protection rating, and climatic class 3K3 permits operation from +10 °C to +55 °C; storage or transportation is permitted from -25 °C to +70 °C. Internal memory holds up to 256 user programs that can be triggered through the 24 V timer inputs. When paired with a PSG 3100 transformer, the secondary current can reach 36 kA, and the inverter weighs 25 kg.
