The PSI6200.636-W1 is a medium-frequency inverter developed by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. The unit converts three-phase mains power into a controlled medium-frequency output for induction heaters, welders, and similar automation equipment. This controlled output allows connected equipment to regulate delivered energy without using mechanical tap changers.

The inverter accepts a three-phase supply of 400–480 VAC, matching common plant distribution levels. Under continuous duty, the power section delivers a nominal line current of 220 A, while transient demands can be met with a peak output capability of 1200 A. These current limits allow the connected transformer or work coil to increase power quickly without exceeding thermal limits. Internal switching devices operate at a clock frequency of 1 kHz, shaping the output waveform to provide stable secondary current and reduce acoustic noise in the load. The control electronics are isolated from the power stage and supplied by a dedicated 24 V DC CPU rail, which keeps the logic active during mains disturbances.

Heat generated by the IGBTs is removed through a water circuit that requires a flow rate of 4 L/min. The coolant temperature must remain below 30 °C to keep semiconductor junction temperatures within safe operating limits. When the inverter is recessed-mounted, the ambient temperature around the cabinet may reach 55 °C, so the enclosure must provide adequate airflow. The housing has an IP20 rating, providing protection against finger contact but no protection against liquids. Brass water fittings with M16 × 1.5 threads support secure, leak-resistant coolant connections. MOV-based overvoltage protection clamps incoming voltage surges, while the DeviceNet timer supervises operational sequencing. The power terminals accept conductors with a cross-sectional area of up to 95 mm². The connected load transformer can produce secondary current pulses of up to 54 kA.
