The Bosch Rexroth Indramat PSI6200.627-W1 is a medium-frequency inverter in the PSI Frequency Inverters series. In automation systems, it converts three-phase mains energy into a controlled medium-frequency output. This gives the machine a dedicated power stage for heating, welding, or other high-current processes that require fast regulation.

It drives its output stage at a clock frequency of 1 kHz, a switching rate that balances waveform quality with losses. Control electronics are supplied from a separate 24 V DC feeder, isolating logic from the power section. Thermal management relies on a water-cooled heat exchanger, and the design needs a coolant flow of 4 l/min. The inlet temperature must stay below 30 °C to keep semiconductor junctions within limits. The housing has an IP20 degree of protection, so the unit must be mounted inside an enclosed cabinet. Integrated temperature monitoring shuts down the inverter when the internal ambient approaches its ceiling. Overvoltage suppressors based on metal-oxide varistors protect the DC link, and recessed mounting saves panel depth. Power and motor conductors can be landed under ring lugs rated for a 95 mm² wire size, and DeviceNet timing circuitry coordinates firing sequences with external controllers.

During normal operation, the inverter accepts a three-phase line between 400 – 480 VAC, rectifies it, and delivers a nominal system current of 220 A to the transformer or bus bars. For dynamic peaks such as billet-heating startups, the power stage can momentarily rise to 1200 A, while an external PSG 3100 transformer can draw secondary pulses up to 54 kA without saturating the commutation path. The specified current envelope works with the cooling circuit to keep silicon temperatures stable. Coordinated firing logic and the MOV network help limit fault energy during high-duty operation.
