The PSI6100.330-L2 medium-frequency inverter is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It converts high-voltage, three-phase mains power into controlled medium-frequency power for machine tools, welding sources, and other automated equipment that requires precise energy delivery. Within an automation cell, the device is mounted in a cabinet, where it connects to drives or heating coils and provides stable output under changing loads.

The inverter accepts a three-phase supply from industrial grids rated between 480–690 VAC and operates at line frequencies of 50 or 60 Hz. Internal circuitry is protected by an enclosure classified as IP20, so the unit must be installed inside a switchgear cabinet. An integrated power supply module delivers 24 VDC control power at up to 2 A for sensors, contactors, or fieldbus electronics. Command sequencing is handled by the INTERBUS timer, allowing synchronized activation within coordinated automation systems. The inverter uses air cooling, while the surrounding cabinet must provide enough ventilation to remove the discharged heat. Its design complies with climatic class 3K3 under EN 60721-3-3, permitting indoor operation in production areas with moderate humidity and dust.

During operation, the inverter releases a maximum of 360 W of heat, which must be removed by cabinet fans to keep component temperatures within operating limits. The permitted operating temperature ranges from +10 to +55 °C. The electronics can withstand storage and transportation temperatures from -25 to +70 °C without performance degradation. At approximately 21 kg, the unit requires a backplate and mounting hardware capable of supporting its mass. Adequate clearance around the enclosure allows cooling air to circulate and prevents neighboring equipment from obstructing heat removal. The cabinet layout should also provide access to the power and control connections without placing strain on connected cables.
