The PSI6100.105-L1 belongs to the PSI Frequency Inverters series manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. This medium-frequency inverter conditions line power for welding controllers, induction heaters, and other automation cells that need accurate current pulses rather than sinusoidal drive. By converting three-phase mains energy into monitored DC and then into a pulse-width-modulated primary voltage, the unit supplies transformers with adjustable current while remaining compact enough for cabinet mounting.

During operation, the inverter draws a mains nominal current of 110 A from three-phase supplies rated at 400 – 480 VAC. It produces a 1 kHz PWM primary waveform, while its integrated 24 VDC power supply can deliver up to 2 A for control electronics and a timer circuit that also runs on 24 V. Basic cabinet heat dissipation is 69 W at idle and climbs to 170 W at maximum duty, so forced airflow is provided through the air-cooled chassis. The assembly has an IP20 rating, meaning live parts must be enclosed by the user’s switchgear housing. Discrete 24 V I/O terminals interface with external sequencers, and the clamp blocks accept conductors up to 50 mm².

Primary current can reach 400 A, and the secondary side of a PSG 3100 transformer may deliver up to 20 kA to welding electrodes. Connection bars require a minimum cross-section of 35 mm² to handle these peaks. Up to 32 electrodes can be controlled, and each can be selected through one of 256 stored programs so different materials or thicknesses can share a single inverter. Reliable operation is maintained up to 2000 m altitude, after which derating is advised. The unit remains air-cooled, and its primary-side losses are handled by the same thermal system used for the stated cabinet heat figures.
