The NFD02.1-480-180 is a three-phase mains filter produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the NFD Mains Filters series. Installed between the utility supply and the drive cabinet, the unit attenuates conducted emissions and limits high-frequency interference so that servo drives and frequency converters meet electromagnetic compatibility limits. By reducing line noise, it protects the upstream power network and helps downstream equipment comply with standards. Typical applications include multi-axis machining centers and automated assembly lines.

On the line side, the filter can conduct a rated line current of 180 A without saturation. It is designed for grids whose phase-to-phase voltage does not exceed AC 480 V +10%, so it can be used on nominal 480 V industrial mains with routine tolerance. The circuit is arranged for 3 phases, providing symmetrical attenuation across all conductors. Internal resistive and core losses are limited to 61 W under rated conditions, simplifying cabinet heat-dissipation calculations. Insulation integrity is confirmed by a line/neutral-to-protective-earth dielectric test of 2800 VDC for two seconds, which demonstrates clearance and creepage margins for safe operation.

For short-term loading, the filter accepts 1.5 × IN for 1 min/h, allowing brief inrush or overload events without thermal damage. The nominal ratings are referenced to an ambient of 45 °C, so higher enclosure temperatures require derating. To accommodate high currents, the supply terminals are sized for 95 mm² conductors, equivalent to AWG 4/0 lugs specified for copper wiring. Despite the large terminal cross-section, the unit itself weighs only 11 kg, which eases panel design and reduces support hardware. Its IP10 housing offers basic finger protection while permitting sufficient airflow for the stated power dissipation.
