The Rexroth MTC-P01.1-M1-A1-NN-NN-NN-FW is a digital CNC control module. It is part of MTC 200 series which also includes the MTC-P01.2 series of CNC modules. The MTC-P01.1-M1-A1-NN-NN-NN-FW is an ISA card which installs on a free slot on an industrial PC. This module is an export restricted version. The module is also available without export restrictions. Amount of RAM on the module is 1 Megabyte. The hardware module is ordered separately from the firmware: this is required to ensure that module supports features that are optimized for different applications. An axis processor for drive control is integrated onto the module. An additional axis processor is available with the MTC-P01.1-M1-A1-NN-NN-NN-FW and occupies an extra ISA slot on the PC. A fiber optic based SERCOS interface is used for communication with the drives.

Each SERCOS interface and its associated fiber optic cables enable communication with a maximum of 8 drives. During installation it should be ensured that the maximum length of the fiber transmission link is not exceeded. Glass fiber cables can be used for link distances of up to 500 meters. Plastic fiber cables can be used for link distances of up to 40 meters. Furthermore the same type of cable – glass or plastic – should be used for the end to end communication. This means that use of different types of fiber cable at a joint is not permitted. Joints reduce the length of the fiber optic link and should be avoided. Care must be taken during installation to ensure that the fiber cables are not damaged. The power for the MTC-P01.1-M1-A1-NN-NN-NN-FW module is carried over the ISA bus. The module to PC communication also takes place over the ISA bus. This unit can be shipped globally with a one-year warranty period from Wake Industrial.
