Product Description:
The MSS272F-0040-FA-N0CN-NNNN is a water-cooled synchronous motor manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the MSS Synchronous IndraDyn H Motors series. By combining a high pole-count stator with a liquid jacket, the motor supplies sustained torsional output for extruders, rolling tables, or dynamometers that require precise torque regulation over long duty cycles. When integrated with an IndraDrive inverter, it delivers controlled rotation while its cooling circuit removes the thermal losses associated with large current flow.
The water circuit permits a continuous shaft load of 650 Nm while keeping the stator within its temperature limit. This output follows from the torque constant of 9.15 Nm/A, letting the drive set current accurately. During transients, the inverter may deliver up to 200 A, and the winding inductance of 17 mH moderates the current rise. At rated speed, the back EMF is 775 V/1000 rpm, which calls for a suitable DC-bus level. A dead-halt current of 71 A supports static holding, and the 0.36 Ω phase resistance contributes to copper losses that the cooling jacket must remove. The 0.11 l coolant duct volume carries those losses away with circulating water, and terminations and rotating parts remain open to the environment under the IP00 protection code.
The motor can reach a peak torque of 1500 Nm for brief acceleration profiles when the inverter supplies the required overcurrent. Heat generated during such peaks is absorbed by the jacket, which measures 300 mm in diameter and extends 480 mm along the frame to provide a large exchange surface for circulating water. This arrangement removes 4.90 kW of thermal loss during nominal operation. Despite the sizable envelope, the assembly retains installation flexibility, and its mass of 134.2 kg supports accurate inertia matching in large gantries or drivetrain test rigs.
