Product Description:
The MSS242F-0060-FA-N0CN-NNNN is a liquid-cooled synchronous motor built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the MSS Synchronous IndraDyn H Motors series. In automated machinery, it supplies high continuous torque at low shaft speeds while maintaining closed-loop motion control. This performance allows direct-drive positioning tables, extruders, and rotary indexing stations to operate without gear reductions.
Under nominal operating conditions, the motor delivers a continuous shaft torque of 425 Nm at a rated speed of 600 rpm. These values correspond to a mechanical output of 26.7 kW. A phase current of 68 A is required to reach that operating point, while the power electronics must also tolerate a peak demand of 180 A during acceleration. An axial hose connection routes coolant through the stator jacket, and a flow rate of 6 L/min keeps the winding temperature within operating limits. Because no encoder is mounted, an external feedback device or sensorless control method must be used for commutation. Five magnetic pole pairs provide a 12-degree electrical phase spacing, which the drive uses to calculate switching sequences for smooth torque production. Cable exits are arranged axially so the motor leads remain within the machine envelope.
Transient events such as rapid indexing can be handled with a maximum torque of 970 Nm. Electromagnetic conversion efficiency is represented by a torque constant of 6.25 Nm/A, which relates stator current to output torque and assists with current-loop tuning. The back EMF generated while the shaft turns has a voltage constant of 570 V/1000 rpm, an important parameter when selecting an inverter with sufficient DC-bus headroom. Copper losses at the rated operating point are influenced by the phase resistance, which measures 0.41 ohm. The IP00 enclosure requires installation inside a protected housing to prevent contact with live or moving parts while permitting ambient airflow.
