Product Description:
Bosch Rexroth Indramat builds the MSS162D-0400-FA-N0CN-NNNN for the MSS Synchronous IndraDyn H Motors series. This water-cooled, permanent-magnet synchronous motor is intended for demanding industrial axes where high torque density and continuous duty are required. Integrated coolant passages allow the stator to reject heat directly to a closed water circuit, so the motor maintains thermal stability while delivering precise torque in packaging machines, metal-cutting centers, and automated assembly stations.
Under nominal cooling, the motor delivers a continuous shaft torque of 70 Nm, allowing it to drive loads steadily without overheating. When paired with an IndraDrive inverter, the windings can accept up to 170 A of RMS phase current, which is the electrical limit for closed-loop control. Output mechanical power reaches 29.3 kW, a figure that combines speed and torque to indicate the usable work capacity of the axis. Thermal control is based on water cooling. The 180 mm jacket diameter, 256 mm jacket length, and 0.07 L duct volume allow the coolant jacket to surround the stator and remove heat before it accumulates. To keep the jacket temperature within operating limits, a minimum flow of 3.0 L/min must be maintained through the circuit.
Dynamic events are handled by a peak torque ceiling of 160 Nm, enabling short acceleration bursts without demagnetizing the permanent magnets. The electromagnetic conversion efficiency is characterized by a torque constant of 1.09 Nm/A; drive software multiplies this figure by the commanded current to predict output torque. With a winding inductance of 5.0 mH, the current rise is moderated enough for smooth commutation while remaining responsive enough for speed-control loops. The assembly carries an IP00 rating, meaning it must be installed inside a protected enclosure. Its 28.1 kg stator mass provides mechanical stiffness and thermal inertia against rapid load changes. A winding resistance of 0.24 Ω supports accurate I²R loss calculations during system sizing.
