Product Description:
The MSS162B-0400-FA-N0CN-NNNN is a liquid-cooled synchronous motor supplied under the MSS Synchronous IndraDyn H Motors series. The unit is built for closed-loop servo axes in presses, extruders, and similar automation where continuous torque output must be maintained without overheating. Its design omits a finished housing, so the motor is installed inside the machine framework and cooled by the plant coolant circuit, allowing high power density while keeping winding temperature within safe limits.
Process cooling and mounting dimensions are central to the design. An axial inlet with a thread size of G 1/8 mates directly to standard hydraulic fittings, and this port requires a continuous coolant flow of 2.0 l/min. At that flow rate, the internal channels create a pressure loss of 1.6 bar, and the external supply must remain below 6 bar to protect the seals. The stator housing has 6 mounting holes on the front face, and each hole is tapped for M6 threads with a depth of 12 mm so the flange can be secured to the machine plate. A separate M16 × 1 mounting thread is provided for alignment hardware, and an M6 bore of the same depth serves as the ground point.
Electrical and magnetic characteristics govern how the motor interacts with the drive and the connected load. A clamping strand measuring 22 mm in diameter routes phase conductors and cooling lines along the frame while resisting an axial pull of 310 N and a radial attraction of 960 N caused by the permanent-magnet rotor. The power terminals accept cable up to AWG 8, which supports low-loss transmission of high continuous current. Separate leads are provided for the winding protection sensor and the temperature sensor, with cross sections of 0.5 mm² and 0.25 mm² respectively. The motor has an IP00 rating, so external shrouding is required to limit accidental contact and contamination.
