The MRS382B-1N-0240-NNNN is a liquid-cooled synchronous motor built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and assigned to the MRS Synchronous IndraDyn H Motors series. The frame is engineered for direct connection to heavy rotary equipment. It supplies controlled shaft motion in presses, extruders, and large positioning tables where gearbox backlash must be avoided. The direct-drive arrangement also reduces the number of mechanical transmission components between the motor and the connected load.
Under nominal loading, the unit outputs 36 kW of mechanical power while maintaining a shaft speed of 250 rpm; this low speed allows high torque to be transferred without external reduction stages. The torque is rated at 1375 Nm and is sustained with a continuous current draw of 85 A from the drive. During short transients, the inverter may supply up to 250 A, giving the motor additional acceleration capability before thermal limits are reached. Copper loss is affected by a winding resistance of 0.48 Ω, so voltage selection and cabling must account for the resulting I²R heating. A 240 mm internal rotor diameter enlarges the active magnetic surface, and the nine pole pairs produce an electrical frequency nine times the mechanical rotational frequency. Liquid cooling is mandatory, and the jacket requires a minimum flow rate of 9.2 L/min to remove heat generated at full load.
For peak events such as breakaway starts, the motor can deliver up to 2875 Nm, a reserve that corresponds to its torque constant of 16.18 Nm/A. The laminated steel stack and large shaft produce a rotor inertia of 1.525 kg·m², providing rotational stiffness that helps reduce speed ripple in high-inertia loads. Thermal loading is modeled with a 9.8-minute time constant, allowing brief overloads to end before critical temperatures are reached when the 0.73 L coolant path is properly purged. Because the housing has an IP00 protection rating, the motor must be installed inside a guarded enclosure that prevents accidental contact and limits exposure to contamination.
