The MRS182D-2N-0075-NNNN synchronous motor is supplied by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the MRS Synchronous IndraDyn H Motors series. Delivered as a frameless rotor-stator assembly, it is intended for direct embedding inside high-speed spindles, grinding heads, or other compact axial drives where space and weight must be minimized. Within an automation cell, the unit converts regulated three-phase current from an IndraDrive inverter into precise mechanical torque, so the driven axis can follow controlled acceleration profiles and stable continuous speed without mechanical transmissions. Because the assembly has no separate outer housing, the surrounding machine structure must provide the support and alignment normally handled by a conventional motor frame. This direct-drive layout also removes belts or gear stages that can add backlash, compliance, and extra rotating mass to the spindle system.
Because the windings and laminations are mounted directly in the machine housing, the kit has a protection rating of IP00, so all sealing must be provided by the surrounding enclosure. The unit is an open motor kit, which exposes copper and iron for efficient heat transfer but requires a clean, dry installation space. It can be started in ambient conditions down to -20 °C, and rotor monitoring uses a warning threshold of 135 °C plus a shutdown threshold of 145 °C. This temperature supervision helps protect the magnetic materials and insulation system during heavy duty cycles. Heat can pass quickly into the machine body, so the mounting structure plays an important role in thermal stability during sustained operation.
Mechanical retention and lubrication are handled through 2 pressure-oil set screws that route fluid directly to the bearing seats. The step shoulder uses 1 O-ring to block oil migration along the shaft bore. The rotor is pressed onto the spindle journal using a step interference fit, which helps keep radial runout low during high-speed rotation and thermal expansion. Direct oil delivery supports stable lubrication where rotational speed and bearing loads are concentrated. Keeping oil contained at the shaft bore helps protect adjacent spindle components from contamination. The arrangement is suited to precision machining and measuring equipment that depends on accurate concentric rotation.
