Product Description:
Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the MLP140C-0090-FT-N0CN-NQL3, a primary section in the MLP Synchronous Linear Motors series. This liquid-cooled linear motor supplies direct thrust for industrial gantries, pick-and-place stages, and transfer lines, removing the need for rotary-to-linear conversions. It has motor size 140 with winding code 0090, and its thermo-encapsulated winding system is embedded in resin to improve resistance to vibration. Because thrust is generated directly along the axis, the motor avoids the backlash and compliance associated with screw drives or belt reductions. Power leads exit through the front of the housing, which helps keep cable routing clear in compact machine layouts.
The motor provides a continuous nominal force of 3150 N, and peak thrust can reach 10000 N during acceleration. It dissipates a power loss of 2000 W through internal liquid channels, and the cooling circuit requires a flow rate of 2.9 l/min. The coolant inlet pressure must remain below 10.0 bar, while the stator has a pressure drop of 1.2 bar during operation. A pole width of 37.5 mm helps maintain repeatable force, and the winding temperature can rise to 155 °C before derating begins. Electrical supply enters through front-mounted wires, and external position feedback is required because the motor does not include an encoder.
The magnetic attraction between the primary and magnet track reaches 14400 N, which creates a constant preload across the air gap. Under this preload, travel speed can reach 90 m/min on fast linear axes. The housing is sealed to IP65, which helps protect the motor from dust and water jets in industrial environments. The winding system has a thermal time constant of 2.4 min, so it responds quickly to load changes during repeated cycles. That short thermal response helps the drive react predictably when acceleration and dwell periods alternate throughout a repetitive motion sequence.
