The MKE118D-027-CP0-KE4 is a servo motor engineered by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the MKE Synchronous Motors series. It is intended for use in potentially explosive areas and follows ATEX housing requirements. A multiturn absolute Hiperface optical encoder, model M1, provides 128 increments for position feedback so the drive can track rotor position during motion and startup. Mechanical power is delivered through a shaft with a DIN 6885 keyway, and the electrical interface uses a terminal box on the top side that accepts cable entries from 13 mm to 16 mm. This arrangement keeps the connection point enclosed and avoids side-mounted power plugs.

In continuous operation at a 60 K winding temperature rise, the motor can sustain 48.0 Nm while drawing 22.1 A. The laminated stator uses winding code 027 with 0.350 Ω resistance and 5.70 mH inductance, which influence current response and servo behavior. For overload events, output can reach 187.0 Nm or 99.6 A RMS, and speed peaks at 3000 rpm. The voltage constant of 154.5 V/1000 rpm corresponds to a torque constant of 2.52 Nm/A, allowing the drive to regulate current with predictable back EMF. A 20.2 nF discharge capacitance helps suppress common-mode noise, and insulation class 155 (F) supports the electrical load placed on the windings.

The rotor has a moment of inertia of 0.03620 kg·m², which gives the motor a moderate acceleration response for driven loads in hazardous locations. The cast housing is rated IP 65 and includes a shaft seal, allowing operation in dusty areas and in clean-in-place zones at ambient temperatures from 0 to +40 °C. The sealed housing helps protect internal components where splash, dust, and frequent cleaning are present. Sound pressure during nominal running remains 61.1 dB(A) ±3. The motor does not include a holding brake, so position retention must come from the drive. Its mass is 65.0 kg, and power connections leave through the top terminal chamber by means of ATEX-approved cable glands.
