The Bosch Rexroth MKE116D-027-PG3-KN is a synchronous motor. It belongs to the MKE product line which has been specially developed for applications that involve motor operation in hazardous areas where there is a high probability of explosions. The MKE series comprises of motors developed for the ATEX and UL/CSA standards. The MKE116D-027-PG3-KN is a motor that has a main shaft with a sealing ring. This ring prevents entry of contaminants that may be present in the operating environment. The MKE116D-027-PG3-KN motor is IP65 rated. This protection rating implies that the motor is totally protected against ingress of dust. Moreover the motor is also protected from low-pressure liquid jets pointed at the motor. Hence the motor can be mounted outside cabinets and near the working machinery which save spaces and operating cost as the cables lengths are minimized.
The MKE116D-027-PG3-KN features a built-in multiturn optical encoder. The motor encoder has a 13-bit resolution and supports 2048 lines. The encoder can support a maximum speed of 12000 RPM. The encoder requires 3.6 to 14 Volts DC input and has a maximum current consumption of 250 milliamps. The MKE116D-027-PG3-KN also features a built-in holding brake with 70 Nm holding torque, 1.29 Amps current rating and 53 millisecond connection time. A terminal box on the top side of the MKE116D-027-PG3-KN houses the electrical connection. The motor has a flange for mounting.
