The MKE116B-058-NP1-KN is a synchronous servo motor produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. Designed for hazardous locations, it provides precise torque and speed control for automated motion axes in paint lines, chemical processing zones, and other classified industrial cells. In these installations, the motor forms the electromechanical interface between the drive controller and the mechanical load, delivering closed-loop positioning while meeting explosion-protection requirements. This role is important on servo-driven equipment that still requires accurate starts, stops, and speed changes in areas where flammable vapors or similar hazards may be present.

In practical installation, the power and feedback connectors are routed upward because the connection orientation is top. All conductors terminate inside a terminal box, which supports armored conduit entry in classified locations. The 058 winding sets the coil resistance and inductance so the associated inverter can supply the correct current without magnetic saturation. For axis safety during power loss, the motor is shipped with a holding brake, allowing static load retention without external clamps. Mechanical coupling is performed through a shaft with a keyway, giving a positive drive between the rotor and the driven hub or pulley. The upward cable exit can also simplify routing when conduit approaches from above the motor.

The keyed interface follows the DIN 6885 keyway profile, so standard keyed hubs can be installed without custom machining.
