The MKE037B-144-AP1-BENN is a servo motor produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the MKE Synchronous Motors series. Designed as a drive element for potentially explosive zones, it converts electrical power from matched drives into controlled mechanical torque for positioning or speed-regulated tasks on process lines, filling systems, and packaging machines that must comply with hazardous-area rules. The motor is intended for motion systems that require both precise control and protection for hazardous locations.
An enclosure rating of IP 65 seals the stator and feedback electronics against dust and low-pressure water jets, allowing direct mounting on machinery without additional housings. The motor can operate continuously in ambient air between 0 to +40 °C, and temperature derating is unnecessary within this range because winding set 144 is sized for those conditions. Its cast housing conforms to the ATEX directive, so surface temperatures remain below ignition limits when the shaft is loaded at nameplate current. Power and feedback conductors enter through a factory-installed terminal box on the B-side of the frame, which can simplify cable routing along the machine backbone and keep the connection chamber outside the classified zone when the installation layout requires it.
The optical single-turn Hiperface encoder, identified as model S1, generates 128 discrete counts per revolution, enabling fine velocity loops and absolute position reporting after every power-up. Class F insulation rated at 155 (F) withstands winding temperatures encountered during cyclic acceleration without premature aging. A permanent-magnet holding brake is supplied with a holding brake, so it secures vertical axes during power loss and can shorten stopping distance during emergency events. The shaft follows the DIN 6885 profile and is delivered as a shaft with a keyway, providing positive mechanical engagement with pulleys or couplings, while an integral shaft seal helps prevent lubricant migration into the motor interior.
