The Bosch MHD115B-058-PP1-AA is a MHD series servo motor. It is compatible with several types of drive controllers including DDS controllers. The function of a controller is to provide power to the motor and control parameters such as speed and position. The controller is programmed prior to commissioning: an operator enters desired values for motor parameters. These desired values depend on the application for which the controller and motor are used. The MHD series of motors is designed for industrial and commercial applications such as machine tools, handling and automation, food machines and paper machines. MHD motors are maintenance-free and offer a very high level of operating reliability. The MHD115B-058-PP1-AA motor comes with an integrated holding brake rated for 70 Nm holding torque. The purpose of the holding brake is to prevent shaft rotation. The brake releases the shaft only after application of a 24 Volts DC signal.

The MHD115B-058-PP1-AA motor also includes an integrated multiturn absolute encoder and supports digital servo feedback. The main motor shaft includes a key and a seal. The seal is a device that suffers from wear during motor operation. It requires periodic inspection and replacement. The seal prevents leakage of motor oil, and also prevent ingress of contaminants such as dust and moisture. The motor has a sealed housing and sealed connectors. As a result, the IP65 rated motor is totally protected from dust and low-pressure water jets. The power connector on the MHD115B-058-PP1-AA is on side A of the housing. Depending on the application, either natural convection or surface cooling can be used for dissipation of heat generated during normal operation. The recommended operating temperature is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius.
