MAD servomotors are characterized by asynchronous housing. These servomotors come equipped with a squirrel cage rotor and support surface ventilation as their cooling mode because of the fixed fan units. They are available in varying configurations and combinations and render intelligent drive solutions with open functionality and high performance when they are used with the manufacturer’s IndraDrive range of drive controllers.

The Rexroth servomotors depict an optimized construction with IP 65 degree of protection that supports their operation under unfavorable conditions. These high-quality series of MAD servomotors portray compact dimensions that allow them to deliver high continuous performance and be operated as servo and main drives for any rotary drive task. They must be used only with the accessories specified in their manual. The servomotors should never be operated at a temperature higher than 55°C or installed at an elevation of more than 3000m above sea level. We offer a one-year backup support for our Rexroth motors.

• MAD servomotors use either a fan cowl with a fan shroud or an axial fan with blowing action for their cooling. The fan cowl and fan shroud are used when the motors are used in heavily soiled environments.
• These servomotors are equipped with a plain output shaft or an output shaft balanced with a full or half key. The shaft may not have a shaft sealing ring or may include a shaft sealing or labyrinth ring. Similarly, the Rexroth motors may or may not be equipped with an electrically released or electrically clamped holding brake.
• This series of high-quality MAD servomotors are used in machine tools as well as forming, printing, food, packaging and paper-converting machines.
• The servomotors with frame sizes 100 to 160 use a terminal box or a flange socket for their electrical connections. Motors with frame sizes 180 and 225 rely on only a terminal box for the electrical connection.
• MAD servomotors support both flange mounting and flange and foot installation. They can be installed either horizontally or vertically, with the output shaft facing upward or downward.

Rexroth MAD servomotors have black paint on their housing with complete resistance to seawater, water, sewage, current mineral oils and diluted acids/lyes. The motors support the coating of an additional layer of paint of not more than 40µm thickness after checking the resistance and adhesiveness of the new paint. The servomotors must not be operated without a fan. The fan cools the motor by cleaning the air from its surroundings.

MAD servomotors must be installed such that a minimum distance is maintained for the air circulation between the machine and the fan grille. The fan of MAD servomotors operates independently of the drive controller and is connected to the associated supply network using a motor protective switch and a cable. The service life of the MAD 225 series of Rexroth servomotors is reduced by nearly 30% when they are installed vertically with the output shaft pointing to the top.
