KSM motors are a part of the products manufactured by Rexroth for motion control solutions. These motors are often used with the Rexroth IndraDrive Mi drive system. The IndraDrive Mi system and the related components are not enclosed in an electrical control enclosure which significantly reduces cost. The maintenance as well as the expense associated with the replacement of cooling fans has become something of the past. The IndraDrive Mi drive system alongside the distributed KSM motors do not require external cooling. The assembly cost of the motor is also drastically reduced because of the elimination of the labor hours related to wiring as well as the mounting of each motor.  

There are four different sizes of KSM motors with a maximum torque of about 9.4 to 35 Nm. The KSM motors are UL certified and are available with an optional holding brake with integrated control. An IP65 rating enables these motors to reliably operate in damp or dusty environments. These motors are also equipped with optical encoders. Additionally, these motors have a maximum speed ranging between 3,400 and 6,000 min^-1. Moreover, the rated input voltage of these motors ranges between 540 and 750 V DC. For these motors to operate effectively, the ambient conditions specified by the manufacturer must be complied with.

Rexroth’s KSM01.2B-041C-42N-S1-HP0-SE-NN-D7-NN-FW motor has a single-turn Hiperface optical encoder with 128 increments and a shaft with a keyway. The mass of this KSM motor is 5.8 kg. Like other motors in the KSM series, KSM01.2B-041C-42N-S1-HP0-SE-NN-D7-NN-FW features IP65 rating and 155 insulation class. This motor comes without a holding brake as well as safety technology.
