Product Description:
The KSD041C-0420-NN-M3-1P2-NNNN is a compact servo motor module built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the KSD IndraDrive Mi Motors series. It integrates drive electronics directly on the motor body, reducing cabinet wiring and simplifying the installation of modular axes. In automated cells, the unit provides closed-loop rotary motion for positioning tables, pick-and-place heads, and indexing conveyors. It converts energy from the shared DC bus into controlled shaft torque and speed, allowing the connected axis to follow programmed motion commands. The integrated arrangement also reduces the distance between the motor and its drive electronics, which helps streamline power and control connections within the machine.
The motor produces a holding torque of 4.00 Nm while the drive is enabled. Its continuous stall capability is represented by a standstill torque of 2.2 Nm at 60 K, accounting for the permitted increase in winding temperature. For peak motion, the motor can reach a maximum torque of 9.4 Nm and draws no more than 6.8 A rms from the shared Mi power rail. The torque constant is 1.60 Nm/A, providing a consistent relationship between phase current and motor torque. A low rotor inertia of 0.00019 kg·m² supports rapid acceleration and deceleration, while the separate brake adds only 0.000023 kg·m² of inertia. Mechanical output is transferred through a 5 × 5 × 20 mm keyed shaft with a DS M5 centering hole. The shaft can withstand an external axial force of up to 20 N without exceeding the permitted bearing load.
The voltage constant is 98.2 V/1000 rpm, indicating the back electromotive force produced as rotational speed increases. Thermal response is characterized by a time constant of 13 min, which permits brief overload operation before the winding reaches its temperature limit. The insulation system has a thermal classification of Class 155. The holding brake engages after a clamping delay of 25 ms and releases within 35 ms, supporting controlled load retention and prompt motion after the brake command changes. Its low added inertia limits the brake’s effect on acceleration profiles during repetitive positioning cycles. These operating characteristics allow the integrated controller to coordinate current, torque, brake operation, and rotor movement without requiring a separate cabinet-mounted servo drive for the axis.
