The KMS03.1B-A036-P-D7-ET-END-SD-NN-FW servo drive belongs to the KMS Electronic Drives series from Bosch Rexroth Indramat. It is a near-motor unit that places the power electronics on the machine frame, reducing cabinet wiring and improving electromagnetic compatibility. Within an automation cell, the drive modulates the three-phase supply so that a synchronous or induction motor can follow speed, torque, or position commands issued by a central controller. Its enclosure and communication options support distributed motion architectures on assembly lines, packaging machines, and handling systems.
The drive uses natural convection cooling, so heat dissipates through the aluminum housing without added fans, reducing maintenance requirements in dusty areas. A buffered intermediate circuit operates at 750 V DC, providing headroom for high regenerative currents during rapid deceleration. The housing carries an IP65 rating that protects the electronics against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, permitting direct mounting on moving axes. A dual feedback port processes Hiperface and digital encoder feedback, allowing the drive to receive motor position and operating data. For plant networking, the integrated Multi-Ethernet interface supports software-based protocol selection among EtherCAT, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP without requiring a change to the physical interface.
Functional safety is provided by Safe Motion, which supports monitored standstill and safely limited speed without external relays. The drive has a Basic performance level for essential axis control. As a near-motor servo drive, the unit shortens motor power leads and reduces voltage drop, which is beneficial on gantry or long-travel systems. Mounting the drive near the motor also reduces the amount of high-current cabling routed through the main control cabinet. The unit is produced as design version 1, corresponding to the first design revision of this drive model.
