The KMS02.1B-A018-P-D7-ET-NNN-NN-TO-FW is a decentralized near-motor servo drive from Bosch Rexroth Indramat's KMS Electronic Drives series. Positioned only inches from the motor, it converts a centralized DC supply into phase-controlled output that closes speed and position loops in industrial automation cells. By relocating the power electronics to the machine frame, wiring lengths are reduced and electromagnetic emissions are confined to a short segment. This arrangement also keeps the motor connection short and supports modular assembly lines and multi-axis packaging or handling systems.
Under continuous loading, the drive delivers 6 A of phase current, yet it can momentarily supply up to 18 A for rapid accelerations while drawing a rated input of 7.3 A from the shared DC link. That link is maintained at 750 V DC, and internal energy storage helps limit ripple and support brief ride-through events. Heat generated by the internal IGBTs is about 50.00 W, and it is removed by natural convection, so no fan is required. The module uses design version 1 in the KMS Series Designation 02 layout and is intended for basic point-to-point motion. Control logic is powered by a 17.5 W auxiliary supply, and command exchange is handled through a Multi-Ethernet master port with optional Multi-Ethernet output coupling. For fault bypassing, the current shunt path tolerates 25.0 A.
A compact DC bus capacitor rated at 0.02 mF stabilizes link voltage during high-frequency switching. The cast-aluminum enclosure carries a protection rating of IP65, and the sealed connectors allow direct mounting on moving axes without an additional cabinet. Even with the sealed housing, the mass is only 2.50 kg, which helps limit static load on articulated arms and other moving structures. Short-circuit withstand capability reaches 42000 A rms, supporting installation on factory power systems with high available fault current. There is no encoder interface and no integrated safety functions, so feedback and safety functions are handled by the upstream controller.
