Bosch Rexroth Indramat supplies the KMS02.1B-A018-P-D7-ET-ENH-SD-TO-FW near-motor servo drive as part of the KMS Electronic Drives series. Installed close to the actuator, it reduces motor cable length and serves as a decentralized power stage in automated machinery. The unit combines a Basic performance level with Multi-Ethernet master communication and a Hiperface encoder interface, allowing the controller to exchange motion and position data over the plant network. This arrangement is suitable for packaging lines, pick-and-place axes, and material-handling equipment where drive electronics are placed directly on the machine instead of in a central cabinet.

The drive operates from a DC link of 750 V DC and uses a compact energy buffer of 0.02 mF. A voltage-rise tolerance of 5.00 kV/µs allows rapid IGBT switching, and at 4 kHz PWM the inverter can deliver up to 17.7 A of phase current during normal operation. A bypass path supports short surges to 25 A when the motor must accelerate inertial loads, while the current drawn from the supply is 7.3 A under continuous rated load. Internal losses amount to 50.00 W, and Safe Motion functions are integrated for controlled stop and limited-speed monitoring without external safety relays.

The enclosure is rated IP65, which helps protect the electronics from dust and low-pressure water jets. Cooling is done by natural convection, so the housing does not require fans and can operate without forced-air hardware. With a mass of 2.50 kg, the unit can be mounted on moving machine sections when the support structure is designed for the load. Multi-Ethernet output coupling is available when several drives share the same bus line, which helps keep network routing compact across carriages, rotary tables, and gantry axes. This allows the unit to be placed close to moving tooling where short cable runs are preferred.
