The KMS02.1B-A018-P-D7-ET-ENH-NN-WE-FW is a near-motor servo drive produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the KMS Electronic Drives series. Mounted close to the axis it controls, the unit conditions DC bus power, supervises feedback, and issues phase-synchronized output to permanently excited servomotors used in distributed automation cells. By moving drive electronics out of the main cabinet, it reduces wiring length and supports modular machine layouts. The near-motor arrangement also helps keep machine sections compact when individual axes are distributed across a larger system.
On the power side, the drive is supplied by a DC link of 750 V DC, and the inverter returns an output voltage that follows 0.71 × UDC; transitions between switching states occur at 5.00 kV/µs. During continuous operation, phase current is limited to 5.8 A, while short bursts can draw up to 17.7 A; the feeder circuit must be sized above the rated input of 7.3 A. A standstill detection threshold of 4 Hz lets the controller distinguish between commanded zero speed and motion loss. Multi-Ethernet links the KMS02 node to higher-level PLCs, and a Hiperface encoder interface accepts position feedback over a 7.5 m hybrid cable. The communication link connects the drive to the controller, while the encoder interface returns motor position data for closed-loop operation.
For fault bypass and protective fusing, a maximum shunt path of 25.0 A is available. Switching losses are limited to 50 W, and that heat is removed by natural convection through an enclosure rated IP65. The encoder logic receives 12 V at up to 60 mA, and the control section draws 17.5 W regardless of motor load. An angular connector simplifies mounting, integrated safety is not included in this variant, and the unit is design number 1 in series 02. Passive cooling also avoids the need for a local fan at the drive housing.
