Product Description:
The KMS02.1B-A018-P-D7-ET-ENH-L3-ES-FW near-motor servo drive is built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the KMS Electronic Drives series. Mounted beside the actuator, it supplies regulated current and field-oriented control without requiring long motor cables to a central cabinet. In automated assembly cells or material-handling axes, the drive converts DC bus power into a pulse-width-modulated output that follows velocity or torque commands while keeping the footprint small for decentralized layouts. This arrangement helps place the power electronics close to the motor, which supports compact machine designs and short cable routing on moving axes.
The unit is version 1 in the 02 series and uses a shared DC link rated at 750 Volt DC, so it can draw power from a common bus in multi-axis machines. At 4 kHz, the inverter supplies a continuous phase current of 5.8 A and withstands peaks up to 17.7 A for breakaway moves. When operated at 8 kHz, the continuous current capability is 2.6 A. The housing is sealed to IP65, which allows mounting on moving axes without an extra enclosure. These ratings describe how the compact drive handles power conversion while remaining suitable for decentralized installation near the load.
The drive relies on natural convection to remove heat from the power stage, so no fan is required. Position feedback from the motor is accepted through a Hiperface encoder interface, giving the controller position data at power-up. For network integration, the embedded master channel supports Multi-Ethernet, allowing use with EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or EtherCAT on compatible systems. Functional safety is provided by Safe Torque Off (STO), which removes gate signals to the IGBTs and brings the axis to a non-energized state. The performance level is Basic, which suits applications that need standard servo control rather than advanced motion functions.
