Product Description:
The IKS4049 cable assembly is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the IKS Encoder Cables series. This preterminated lead links an incremental or absolute encoder to a drive controller, transmitting position data and supply power in automated axes. By matching the connector standards used on Rexroth drives and motors, the cord set simplifies installation and maintains signal integrity in industrial automation applications such as gantries, packaging machines, and machining centers.
The minimum fixed bend radius is 5 × D, meaning the cable can be routed in static ducts without exceeding five times its outer diameter. During continuous motion, the radius must increase to 7.5 × D to protect the conductors from fatigue, supporting use in cable carriers and robot joints. The cable has a rated service life of 5,000,000 bending cycles under standard operating conditions. Copper strands are insulated for temperatures up to 80 °C, allowing the assembly to operate in enclosures with elevated internal temperatures while maintaining conductor integrity. The sheath compound is halogen-free and suitable for drag-chain use, helping limit smoke toxicity while providing resistance to abrasion.
On the drive end, a D-sub 15-pin plug mates with the controller’s feedback socket, and the contacts use solder sockets to provide low-resistance joints. The motor end carries an M23 17-pin plug equipped with crimp sockets, providing consistent contact retention and pull-out strength. The selected materials resist cutting oils in accordance with EN 60811-2-1 and EN 50363-10-2, helping prevent sheath swelling when the cable is routed through wet machining areas. Because the cable supports drag-chain use, its signal pairs remain shielded and maintain stable impedance during repeated movement. This shielding also reduces interference that could otherwise affect the transmission of encoder position data between the motor and drive controller.
