Product Description:
The IKS4037 encoder cable is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the IKS Encoder Cables series. It serves as the dedicated link between motor-mounted encoder heads and Rexroth drive controllers, carrying differential position signals and auxiliary power within servomotor assemblies. By providing a pre-engineered transmission path with controlled impedance, shielding, and oil-resistant materials, the cable helps maintain reliable closed-loop motion in machining centers, packaging machines, and other automated equipment.
The mechanical service life reaches 0.5 million flex cycles, indicating how often the jacket and conductors can bend before degradation begins. An overall diameter of 10.2 mm allows the cable to fit clamps and cable ducts sized for common servo harnesses. For fixed installation, the permitted bend radius is 7 × D, whereas reciprocating motion, such as a festoon or limited drag-chain application, requires a bend radius of 12 × D. Maintaining these radii helps prevent the internal conductors from rupturing during installation or movement. The cable is rated for limited use in drag chains and is better suited to applications with moderate repetitive motion than to continuously moving high-cycle systems. The jacket withstands exposure to mineral oils and greases, so lubrication spray in machine beds will not soften the sheath. A continuous overall braid shield surrounds the conductors to reduce electromagnetic noise, while hydrolysis-resistant materials help prevent moisture-related jacket cracking.
The control group contains 34 × 0.25 mm² conductors for incremental channels, while encoder supply voltage is carried on a separate pair sized at 2 × 0.5 mm². This separate supply pair minimizes voltage drop over extended cable runs and keeps power conductors organized apart from the signal group. A bright orange outer sheath made of PVC has a matte surface that reduces glare and makes identification inside cabinets easier. The material formulation is free of halogens and silicone, supporting installations that must avoid corrosive combustion products and paint-shop contamination. Its hydrolysis resistance also helps preserve the sheath when the cable is installed in humid production areas or exposed to occasional moisture.
