The IKS4001 is a feedback cable manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for machines that use EnDat GDM/GDS 2.x encoders. As part of the IKS Encoder Cables series, it carries differential signals and supply power between a motor-mounted sensor and the corresponding Rexroth drive. The assembly is designed for dynamic drag-chain routes, allowing linear axes, pick-and-place gantries, and other moving components to maintain closed-loop position control during continuous production.
The cable is rated for 5,000,000 bending cycles, supporting the repeated movement found in compact cable carriers. Its PUR jacket has an outside diameter of 9.7 mm, providing a compact cross-section as well as resistance to abrasion and industrial fluids. On the motor side, an M23 17-pin plug with polarity pattern P mates with compatible Rexroth encoder sockets. The drive end terminates in a panel-mount D-Sub connector that fits the controller feedback port. The orange sheath follows RAL 2003 for easy identification during cable routing, while the EnDat interface keeps signal pairs synchronized during high-speed sampling. The jacket is made of PUR for flexibility and chemical resistance in moving industrial applications.
The cable core separates power and signal conductors to minimize crosstalk. Power for the encoder is routed through 4 × 1.0 mm² conductors, while position, clock, and auxiliary signals use a bundle of 3 × (2 × 0.25 mm²) + 3 × 0.25 mm² conductors. A total shield made from foil and braid surrounds the conductor groups to suppress electromagnetic interference from nearby servomotor phases. Static routing requires a minimum bend radius of 5 × D, while continuously flexing sections require a minimum bend radius of 7.5 × D. These bend limits protect the conductor strands and insulation as the cable moves through its full travel. Operation is permitted at a conductor temperature of up to 80 °C, making the cable suitable for drag-chain applications exposed to elevated operating temperatures.
