The IKG4174 cable is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the IKG Motor Power Cables series. It is intended for motor-to-drive power distribution in industrial automation systems that require reliable electrical performance during repeated machine movement. The cable combines four large power cores with two twisted control pairs under a single outer jacket, allowing motor current and auxiliary control signals to pass through one routed line. This arrangement reduces the number of separate cable runs required between the drive and motor.
The cable has a mechanical life of 5 million flexing cycles when used for continuous movement in energy-chain tracks. Each power core has a 4 × 35.0 mm² cross section, which supports high motor currents while limiting voltage loss over long cable runs. The loop resistance is 0.554 Ω/km, helping the connected drive maintain stable motor performance. Signal integrity is supported by a capacitance of 1.2 nF/m, which limits reactive loading on high-frequency switching edges. The cable offers drag-chain compatibility, and its abrasion-resistant sheath protects the internal conductors during repetitive movement. Flexible conductor stranding withstands rapid acceleration without excessive twisting or deformation. A separate screened arrangement of 2 × (2 × 1.5 mm²) carries brake or temperature signals while providing separation from the main power conductors.
The jacket has an orange color (RAL 2003) that makes motor power circuits easier to identify during installation and inspection. Its matte PUR compound resists abrasion and does not contain halogens, which helps limit corrosive and toxic emissions during a fire. Fixed installation permits a minimum bend radius of 5 × D, while dynamic routing requires a minimum bend radius of 7.5 × D to prevent conductor stress during repeated flexing. The cable handles up to 600 V AC between phases, making it suitable for common industrial drive outputs. Its outer diameter of 30.8 mm accommodates routing through appropriately sized metric gland plates and cable-chain partitions. The cable can be used on long-travel gantries, pick-and-place axes, and other automated machinery that combines high motor power with frequent movement.
